Aircraft Overview
The HH-60 Pave Hawk is the United States Air Force’s primary combat search and rescue (CSAR) helicopter, engineered for high-risk recovery missions in the world’s most challenging environments. Built on the UH-60 Black Hawk platform, the HH-60 is extensively modified for long-range, low-visibility operations and has been saving lives since the late 1980s.
Equipped with forward-looking infrared (FLIR), GPS navigation, night vision-compatible cockpits, radar warning receivers, and an in-flight refueling probe, the Pave Hawk is capable of penetrating enemy territory in complete darkness or adverse weather. Its reinforced armor, self-sealing fuel tanks, and dual crew-served weapons make it exceptionally survivable in hostile zones. The aircraft typically operates with a crew of four and often includes elite pararescue personnel (PJs) for extraction missions.
